DIY Pest Control for your Home

Who would want a pest-infested home? As much as possible, we see to it that our houses are free from cockroaches, rats and flies that can be detrimental to our families' health. We employ our own Do-It-Yourself or DIY Pest Control methods to knock out that eerie cockroach or destructive rat from our kitchen. However, despite our efforts, we just can't eradicate these seemingly unstoppable pests.

Let me share a tip that can help you beat those pests. Remember that pests, like humans, survive in a place because of the following elements:

• Shelter. For pests, this means a dark, quiet place where they can live undisturbed. This can probably a place where your obsolete items are stocked, or those cracks and crevices in your counters and walls.
• Water. Flies love stagnant water, cockroaches love oily and moist areas. They thrive in these environments.
• Food. Scattered leftovers from lunch break? Garbage residues? Unsanitary garbage areas? Or probably, bread and meat that are not properly stored in your kitchen? Pests would love those food of yours.

The little things matter. Your rice droppings serve as a feast for pests.

Hence, it would be really effective if you can get rid of pests' shelter, water and food. Get rid of the items you do not need. Sometimes, stocking it up for no important purpose makes them a suitable harborage for rats and pests.

Throw your junk. They serve as a nesting ground for pests.

Make it a habit to cover your food at all times.

Keep a sanitary workplace, kitchen, dining area and home. Keep it dry and free from unnecessary items. Do not give pests any reason to stay.

As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure. Keep your homes sanitized, dry and pest proof at all times to avoid the pesky problem of pest infestation.
